“It’s on the slower side, something which we wanted,” Patel remarked, explaining how MI’s batters, accustomed to free-flowing stroke play, struggled against the pitch’s sluggish nature.

GT’s Pacers: The Difference Makers

GT’s pace attack, comprising Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj, Kagiso Rabada, and Ishant Sharma, effectively exploited the conditions. The four pacers combined to restrict MI’s scoring, keeping the pressure high throughout the innings.

Prasidh Krishna’s Match-Winning Spell

Prasidh Krishna delivered a stellar performance, claiming 2 for 18 in four overs. His tight lines, slower deliveries, and strategic variations made it almost impossible for MI’s batters to break free. Skipper Shubman Gill credited Prasidh for changing the game’s momentum.

“He did an amazing job. When a team is chasing 200, restricting them like that puts the match in our favor,” Gill praised.

Other pacers, including Siraj and Ishant, ensured MI never gained momentum. Siraj removed Rohit Sharma early, while Ishant’s powerplay spell (just 2 runs in an over) created mounting pressure. By the sixth over, MI was 48/2, struggling on the sticky pitch.

GT’s Batting Strategy: Solid Foundation for a Big Total

GT’s batters played smart cricket, ensuring their bowlers had enough to defend.
